Aim for the Stars

Last night I tuned in and enjoyed the BAFTAs and was delighted to see some wonderful people recognised for their talent; especially pleased to see The Theory of Everything up there as I so loved that film and want to see it again.

I had to smile when they showed the nominations for Best Screen Adaptation and showed the books from which some of these great films were adapted; Gone Girl was up there amongst others. As the writer you find yourself dreaming, While No One Was Watching, Debz Hobbs-Wyatt… well what’s wrong with dreaming?

I expect Chutney will be nominated for the best British film… come on, humour me?

But seriously folks; for most writers (and I know this does not apply to all and it’s a point I made quite clear at the first meeting of Canvey Writers — who have their second meeting tonight by the way!) some people write for the pure pleasure of writing, which is great. But since most of us seek an audience for our work, I say AIM as high as you can and then some.

But don’t expect the world to give it to you without putting in the work!

And on that note, writing to do!

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!
