Be Still

Remember that in the moments of stillness, ideas often show themselves.

I was lying in the morning’s peace thinking it was about time to switch on the light to read, when a title for a new short story fell into my head. It doesn’t happen that way very often but that little spark might well become something bigger when I breathe life into it.

I always say to writers, be mindful. Allow ideas to come and then often they need time to percolate, the way a good wine needs time to breathe.

Though short and simple that is my message for today. Remember to find a moment to be still.

You never know what might happen.

And a special message for one of the Bridge House authors, Don Nixon whose last story will be published soon in the new collection. He had become a friend as he liked to phone me to discuss edits; I have edited his work a number of times, and he followed and contributed to this blog. His daughter let us know that sadly he passed away last month. Love to his family and friends at this sad time. Read his In The Spotlight again here:

Have a peaceful weekend everyone.
